Prayer - The Exaltation of the Holy Cross

We worship your cross, O Lord, and we praise and glorify your holy resurrection, for the wood of the cross has brought joy to the world. Let us pray with confidence to Christ, who endured the cross to redeem us. Save us through your cross, O Lord.

The Exaltation of the Holy Cross is a feast day, celebrated on September 14, that commemorates the discovery of the True Cross by Saint Helena in the 4th century and its subsequent public exhibition in the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre.

EXTRA EXTRA!! PP5 RELAY OFF TO SYDNEY!!!!

Our incredible PP5 relay team has placed 3rd at the Polding Athletics Carnival and has now qualified for the NSW PSSA Athletics Championships! What an outstanding achievement! Congratulations, Annabelle, Ryan, Will, Jack, and Fletcher. We are so proud of your hard work and teamwork.

Executive Director Visits St Columba’s Yeoval

Our Executive Director of Schools, Mrs Christina Trimble, recently had the pleasure of visiting St Columba’s Catholic Primary School, Yeoval, where she spent an enjoyable time in classrooms, witnessing vibrant teaching and learning in action. Mrs Trimble also had the opportunity to meet with Principal Glenn Corben and meet the dedicated staff.

We encourage all local families to visit this wonderful school and see for yourself the community that is St Columba’s, Yeoval, a K-6 school in the Diocese of Bathurst.

Diocesan Christmas Art Awards Exhibition

Recently, some of our primary students travelled to Bathurst to attend the Diocesan Christmas Art Awards Ceremony and Exhibition. Our Year 5 & 6 students were so proud to see their own pieces exhibited.
The journey was a wonderful opportunity for students to share their artistic talents about the Birth of Jesus Christ and deepen their personal relationship with Jesus through art and reflection.

Healthy Harold

This week, our students enjoyed a visit from the Life Education Van and everyone’s favourite giraffe, Healthy Harold!

• Kindergarten & Year 1 explored Harold’s Online World, learning about safe and responsible choices when using technology.

• Years 2, 3 & 4 participated in Friends and Feelings - Social and Emotional Wellbeing, developing an understanding of emotions and strategies for building positive friendships.

• Years 5 & 6 completed Relate Respect Connect, which focused on respectful communication and strengthening relationships with others.

We’ve included Parent Information below to provide further details about the programs your child experienced during the visit.

Working in Partnership

Working in Partnership

  • We believe that parents are the first educators of their children, and for children to reach their full potential in life, it is essential that school and home work in partnership.
  • At times it can be quite emotional if you are concerned about your child or there has been an incident – but please know that, why we may not always agree, we want your child to feel safe and happy so they can learn.

Our Community Working Together

Support your child in all their educational endeavours by giving praise and showing interest in their school activities.

  • Always be positive.
  • We all have bad days, and at times, events occur that don't always appear fair. However, it is often the case that the injustice was not intentional, and many times not even apparent to others. Always approach these situations in a spirit of co-operation and genuine partnership. It is amazing how easily and quickly most situations can be resolved.
  • It is also important to remember that sometimes children say this happened or that happened and burst into tears, but really the underlying issue is feeling overwhelmed or challenged at school.

Show awareness that a child's perception is not the same as an adult's due to developmental maturity.

  • A child is not necessarily lying when their story conflicts with another or when the teacher's perspective does not match what you have been told at home. Children see their world through their own limited experiences, which colour their perceptions. Adult perceptions are balanced with life experiences. Listen to your child as they tell you their "reality", but remember that a different "reality" may possibly exist elsewhere. Open, honest discussion with school staff is essential in these situations.

Understand that children may and do act differently at home and school.

  • When faced with an audience of their own peers, often children will act/react in a way that appears completely out of character to you and the saying "My child wouldn't do that” might not hold for all situations. Be open to all possibilities.

Follow correct procedures in times of conflict to ensure all parties are heard and for harmonious solutions to be reached.

  • If the conflict centres on a classroom issue, the first approach should always be made with the classroom teacher. If a resolution is not reached, then it is appropriate to involve the school principal. Should the matter result from a situation outside the school, then it is appropriate to discuss this with the school principal in the first instance.
  • We ask that parents refrain from contacting other families directly until the school has had the opportunity to investigate the matter.”

Council of Catholic School Parents

The Council of Catholic School Parents (CCSP) have recently updated the Our Catholic Faith handbook for 2026.
This resource is for all parents and carers. It is a popular guide to the Catholic traditions, celebrations, symbols and prayers. This resource will continue to explore the depths of the Catholic faith, that is, the very foundation of our schools and find within it the heart of a God who has loved you and your children from the beginning of time.
