Term 2 - Week 1
Prayer
PRAYER FOR THE FAMILY
Loving God, Today we thank you for Pope Francis. He showed us how to be kind, how to care for others, and how to live like Jesus. Now, with happy hearts, we say thank you for all the good he did. We remember his love, and we promise to keep sharing that love with the world.
Amen.

PRAYER FOR EDUCATORS
God of mercy and mission,
We thank you for Pope Francis, a teacher of truth, a friend of the poor, a shepherd who walked with courage and joy. As educators, give us a heart like his: Open to wonder, brave in justice, ready to listen, slow to judge, and always leaning toward love. May his legacy echo in our classrooms and staffrooms, not just in words, but in the way we teach, serve, and lead.
Amen.

Catholic Schools Week - 12-18 May 2025

Catholic Schools Week is a time to celebrate the incredible value our schools bring to students, families, and the wider community. It’s a moment to reflect on our rich history and embrace the exciting journey ahead - a time for connection and celebration.
The combined theme for this year’s celebration embodies who we are and what you can expect from a Catholic school - Guided by Faith, Inspired by Hope, and Committed to Learning.
St Columba's Catholic Primary School, Yeoval will celebrate with a Liturgy at Our Lady Catholic Church, Yeoval. Following our school assembly, the school will host Open Classrooms.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the children to share their work and achievements with their family.
Register now and take the first step towards becoming a part of our learning community built on faith, hope and a commitment to student growth and achievement.
As our Parent Teacher Interviews will take place earlier this week,
the Open Classrooms will complement these interviews.
During the Open Classrooms, there will be no formal teaching.
Instead, the children will have opportunities to show their families their work that they are
very proud of. This may be work in their books, artworks and/or work in the classroom.
Sacraments - 2025

Coordinating Student Sacraments with the Parish!
We are working closely with our parish to support students and families in preparing for and receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation (Year 2), First Holy Communion (Year 3), and Confirmation (Year 6). These milestones in the Catholic faith are a special and sacred part of your child’s spiritual journey, and we are committed to helping families through every step of the preparation process.
Bishop Michael McKenna will preside over the Sacrament of Confirmation in Yeoval at the Our Lady Catholic Church at 10:00am on Sunday, 26th October.
If you would like your child to receive any of these Sacraments this year, we kindly ask that you reach out to the school office. This will help us coordinate with the parish to ensure that all students are fully prepared and that the celebrations are meaningful and memorable.
Please contact the school at your earliest convenience if you are interested in your child taking part in any of these Sacraments.
We look forward to walking this journey of faith with you and your family.

ANZAC Day - 25th April

The St Columba's students proudly participated in the local ANZAC Day commemorations, joining the wider community in a heartfelt tribute to Australia’s servicemen and women.
The day began with a solemn march down the main street. Their presence was a strong show of unity and respect, representing the school’s deep appreciation for those who have served and sacrificed.
The school community would like to thank all the organisers of the Yeoval ANZAC Day service for creating such a respectful and inclusive event. St Columba’s remains committed to nurturing students who honour the past and step forward into the future with compassion and gratitude.
Lest we forget.

Annual School Improvement Surveys
The Annual School Improvement Survey will be distributed to parents and students in Year 5 & 6, on Thursday, 8th May.
These surveys enable all members of the school community to have a voice. The information provides data about how well St Columba’s Catholic School is operating, highlighting areas of strength and those that may need revision. Overall, the data collected from the surveys provides highly valuable information that directs the school's future planning for continual improvement.
I encourage all members of our school community to participate in the survey.
